The long awaited Novices Regatta

The long awaited Novices Regatta took place this weekend. More experienced sailors were free to also partake but suffered a serious time handicap to add to any normal shortcomings!
With very different conditions on each day, the sailors techniques were thoroughly tested over 4 races, with an interesting climax as race 4 finished.
4 dinghies caught a squall coming through placing all the crews in the water from capsize.
The leading novices were presented with their trophies by Mike Adams, Club President, with after a recount David Kerr taking first, Lee Roberts second and Simon Firmin third.
The rest of the fleet overall results showed that only Bob and Barbara were able to overcome the handicapping, with Nicola Palmer  4th, Mike and promising Grandson Logan  Adams 5th, JOHN STEBBING 6th . This was surprising for John who seemed to personally capsize, falling off his Laser whilst it continued to sail on. Fortunately he caught up.
There was friendly competition over all 4 races , and the Club now looks forward to the Class Cups, 2 races this Saturday, 12 noon and 2 pm, a further race at 12.30 Sunday and then the first 2 races of the Autumn series at 3 pm. A busy weekend weather allowing, so come and have a chat, you are welcome when the flags flying.
