Tough Conditions faced by the brave few

Tough Conditions faced by the brave few
Sadly no sailing was possible on Sunday when the Class Cup races were due to come to a head together with the opener for the Autumn Series.
Big seas and wind gusts did not prevent 9 boats seeking victory on Saturday however.
Still of those 9 the difficulties created by the turbulent conditions resulted in 5 “Did not Finishes”. Also no winner in the Fast or Assymetric fleets. The RS400 of Bill Eele and Mike Coleman came in for an early shower as did Tony Lane and Lynn Jarvis in their ‘Dart Cat’.
Surprisingly not even the Laser boys and girls headed for the water in the Fast Fleet. And, is a Laser Radial really in the slow fleet? Well, Bob Keech took second from Bob and Barbara Palmer in their Miracle, and a good race by Oliver Brooke’s gave him third.
Oliver’s father Malcolm with Nicola Palmer added to the family affair taking 1st, and only placement in the Cat, S class.
The weekend results may have been affected by some Europe sailors being away at the Nationals, but news of that next week.
The Club’s hoping for better weather this weekend for the Autumn Series back-to-back races on Saturday, followed by the charity Barts Bash race at 10 am Sunday.
The bar will be open as usual, and if interested in the Club call in when the flags flying.
