Well, it looked idyllic…but for the Bexhill winds, North, North -Easterley, Bft 4/5 gusting 6!
Flat sea and sunshine wasn’t enough this week. Saturday was a “no” and Sunday morning had 6 boats signed on, four taking to the water , and three completing the course…So congratulations to Bob Palmer, Laser Radial, first , Richard Bratton , Europe ,second and Cadet sailor Eve Fifield , Topper , third. All fought the heavy gusts most effectively and needed little assistance from the support boats . That said , Malcolm Brookes , Comet , was towed to shore mid race , whilst Arne Lovius , and Dave Kerr , rigged but thought better of launching. After the morning efforts the sailors preferred talking of racing rather than competing in the afternoon.
Hoping for the right weather for more racing this weekend.
