National pride was forced by 4 Europes competing in the slow fleet , and the doyen of the National Championships Richard Eagleton ok first place ahead of Richard Bratten , Lee Roberts and Arne Lovius .The cadets had a real ding dong with Eve Fifield piping Logan Adams second , although that was reversed in race 2. The fast fleet were still recovering from the excesses of the weekend for the second race, but it was Tony Witham [ Supernova ] leading the chase all afternoon but beaten on handicap in race 1 by the Laser Radial of Andy Bullen , followed by Colin Coard [ Laser ]and Bob Palmer [ Radial ].
The wind was Westerly, moving Sou’Westerly, and sea lumpy creating a little surf . The races kept to time after delayed start as the support boats got confused in laying the “Crown Shaped “ course at race officer Rob Harrison’s request.
A hearty buffet celebration with prize giving then followed for 50 members, prior to raising a toast to King Charles III.
We now look forward to the first evening race of the season on Friday 12th, plus a 6 p m Saturday, prior an ‘ early worm ‘ at 8 a m Sunday!
See you on the water Club members !
