Charity Race for Marine Conservation.

From time to time in our busy racing calendar we race  with funds  collected to contribute to worthy causes, and last Sunday it was Marine Conservation . Although our local water companies are not assisting this cause , thankfully there are many who try to ensure our shore life , and that of the oceans are healthy.

21 boats signed on of all varieties. The race rules were simple…one fleet , all classes racing against each other . With the conditions more lively than first thought there were a surprising number of Did Not Finish , but skills otherwise shone to produce a good tactical race .
It was Tony Witham [ Supernova ] who won , after corrected time by 30 seconds , from Richard Eagleton  and Neil Smith , both sailing Europes. Rob Harrison was first Laser ahead of the ex-Commodore crew of Nikki Palmer and Michael Copeman [ RS400 ].
Cadet Eve Fifield [ Laser 4.7 ] was an excellent 7th , beating the experienced Dusty Miller and Andy Bullen [RS400].

More racing this weekend whilst sail trainees are hoping to again get on the water on Saturday morning, as their RYA course moves forward.
